What To Expect When You Call Us

Our Office Staff

Our receptionists at Pediatric Associates of Springfield are ready to welcome you with warm arms and a smile. We understand doctors offices these days are overbooked with patients and appointments.... so, many times, the patient never gets all their questions answered and as a result they are unhappy or they have had to switch doctors because of other circumstances. We understand all situations and we will be ready to answer any specific questions you may have patience and understanding.

Call Us!

Our office personnel answer our telephones Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Saturday from 8:30 am to 11:30 am and most holidays are 9am-11am. We are CLOSED Sundays, Thanksgiving and Christmas. We ask that you make all routine calls during these hours. Contacting us regarding sick children early in the office day enables us to schedule any necessary appointments promptly. Our telephone triage staff will ask you the exact nature of your concern. Describing an issue with specifics such as duration and severity will allow for the best possible triage. Any questions the triage staff cannot fully answer will be referred to the physician. You can be confident that any information shared with our staff will be kept private and used only for your child’s medical care.

Call for Questions

Many times a problem can be dealt with satisfactorily by telephone. Our personnel will take the time to assist with a problem as fully as possible. This means that there will be times the lines are busy or that you will be asked if you can “hold”. During peak calling hours, we may ask to return a non-urgent call at a later time. If your call is an emergency, please indicate that when the call is answered. If the call is a life-threatening emergency, please dial 911 instead of trying to call the office.

We realize plans can change unexpectedly but request 24 hours notice for cancellation of well child visits and consults. Some time slots often have a waiting list and we would like to ease another family’s schedule when possible.

Because each ADD medication refill (option #2) requires a chart review and sometimes phone calls for updates or records, particularly if the refill was requested electronically by the pharmacy, please allow 7 business days. We request your child be up to date on his well child care for routine refills. Please consider putting a reminder on your phone to schedule 1-2 months before follow up appointments and well visits (for example, annually for all children age 2 and up) are needed.
