About us

Who we are

We are the only independent pediatric group practice in Springfield. What this means for our patients is that your needs are our primary concern.

We always put your needs above those of an insurer, hospital or insurance plan. We feel that we have developed a practice that is more responsive to the needs of the modern family, with easier access of care, than is found anywhere else in Springfield.

We offer services in preventive health care and treatment of diseases in children and adolescents.

Our Services

Well child visits are recommended frequently in the first two years of life then annually. We are interested in your child’s growth, development, and mental health, as well as his or her illnesses. Questions regarding any concerns you have about your child are always welcome. If problems related to your child are outside our areas of expertise, we will assist by offering suggestions for appropriate referrals.

Your child will have his or her own provider. However, since no provider can be available all the time, we provide coverage as a group. This means one of us will always be available to see your child.  Monday through Friday we are available for routine preventive care and same day sick child visits. The office is open in the mornings on Saturdays and most holidays for urgent care visits by appointment reducing the need to utilize emergency rooms or urgent care centers.

We use the services of a Pediatric RN triage program at St. Louis Children’s Hospital so that urgent questions or concerns after the office is closed will be handled in a competent and professional manner. A Pediatric Associates physician is always available for consultation. St. Louis Children’s Hospital is universally recognized as one of the best children’s hospital in the United States, and we are pleased to be able to make this excellent resource available to our patients after hours.

Our policy is to see a sick child when he or she needs to be seen. We do not refer to urgent care clinics or emergency rooms because we are “too busy”. Most sick children will be seen the same day when a routine sick visit is needed.

During the pandemic we stopped using the waiting room to minimize exposure to illness.  We found this to be very popular with our families so we are continuing to minimize the use of the waiting room.  Unfortunately walkin clinic has a high volume of patients requiring a waiting room. Therefore we are not able to offer the walkin service at this time.

Please explore all the tabs and pages on this site for more information about our practice. We appreciate your referrals of friends, family and co-workers. Your suggestions for improving our services are always welcome.

Insurance Information

Our practice is the only independent pediatric group practice in Springfield. We are affiliated with Cox Health Systems and are health care providers for many different insurance plans within the Cox network. Each plan, even those with similar names, has varying benefits and restrictions. Our bookkeeping staff are familiar with the plans but each family must learn the details of their own healthcare coverage personally. Each insurance company has online and telephone support to help you find out all the information necessary to understand your plan.

We will file claims for all in-network plans. If we are not a provider for your plan, we will give you an itemized statement at the time of the visit which you can use to file a claim. All charges not covered by insurance are the personal responsibility of parents/account guarantor. This includes co-payments, deductibles, co-insurance and fees for services you have requested that are not a covered benefit of your plan. Fees for office visits are calculated by a formula (enforced by law) that considers the amount of time spent with the provider and the complexity of the problem among other things. For example, combining a check up and a consult about an illness would take considerably more time than just a check up and so would have a higher fee or even two co-pays.

Effective May 1, 2017 we regret that we will not be providers for Missouri Medicaid HMO plans. If your child has traditional Missouri Medicaid, we expect no changes in our provider status.
